Nick Esasky

Nick Esasky - 1984 Topps
Who: First Baseman Nick Esasky

Team: Cincinnati Reds

Card: 1984 Topps

Acquired: In Trade

Comments: This Nick Esasky card came in the same package as this autographed '85 Tony Perez. For me, that's a great haul right there. Nick was a favorite of mine growing up a young Reds fans. Once I decided I wanted to play 1st base in Knothole, I always followed the Reds first basemen.

I've sent a Request to Nick in the past via the mail, but have yet to hear back. So, this was a great surprise and nice addition to the collection.

Manny Trillo

Manny Trillo - 1984 Topps
Who: Infielder Manny Trillo

Team: Montreal Expos

Card: 1984 Topps

Acquired: TTM 3/3 7/27/2009 (19 days)

Comments: Nice autograph and card here from Manny Trillo. The poor Expos players had to have a fuschia colored font on the '84 Topps cards. Not so manly, eh? Well, Mr. Trillo deals with it well by ripping a line-drive over the shortstop's leaping attempt for a single. Take that popular colors of the '80s!

Chris Welsh

Chris Welsh 1984 Fleer
Who: Pitcher Chris Welsh

Team: Montreal Expos

Card: 1984 Fleer

Acquired: TTM 2/2 11/14/2008 (41 days)

Comments: Back at ya with another Chris Welsh card - this time it's Fleer and an Expos uni - both oddballs in my book. Chris is rockin' a righteous 'stach in this photo, unlike the last card I posted of him. His mustache should have its own card, don't you think?

Mario Soto

1984 Topps Mario Soto
Who: Pitcher Mario Soto

Team: Cincinnati Reds

Card: 1984 Topps

Acquired: Redsfest 2007

Comments: I was geeked to get this auto. Soto was the man for the Reds right when I started to get into baseball and baseball cards when I was a kid. He had a few really good years in the mid-80s. He's now a special assistant for the Reds helping out some of the young pitchers, most notably, Johnny Cueto. How about that signature up the side of the card? Nice variation.
