Who: Pitcher
Bruce Berenyi Team: Cincinnati Reds
Card: 1983 Donruss
Acquired: TTM 2/2 3/18/2009 (124 days)
Comments: Bruce may have taken his time getting a pair of cards back to me, but his signature is a beauty. Only Aaron Harang
can top that.
Bruce pitched during some dark years for the Reds in the early '80s, but he did make an impression early on and finished 4th in the Rookie of the Year balloting in 1981. Not bad at all.
You gotta love these Donruss cards... they are easy to identify, huh? I wonder who's idea it was to put the year of the cards edition in the design. I guess Topps'
Allen and Ginter does that now, but it seems a tad odd. I guess that fad was short-lived in the early '80s.
Also... don't these Donruss card come off as cheap to you too? They're like cards your mom would order of you in your Little League uniform. I dunno, maybe it's just me, but the bat and ball are a little too cliche and formulaic.
