A busy weekend

Did lots of stuff this weekend! Quick line-item recap:

Friday Night: Redsfest
Saturday: Redsfest
Saturday Night: hQ Holiday Party
Sunday: Bengals game (win!)

Redsfest was once again stellar this year. Last year brought a whole new look/feel/excitement to it and this year exceeded last year's, for sure. Lots of the big-name reds players were in attendance this year including Junior, Dunn, Harang and Arroyo. Of course, the Reds' new skipper, Dusty Baker was there and signed tons of autographs and was very engaging with the fans - great to see. Unfortunately, Josh Hamilton could not be there... but Homer Bailey was. It seemed like the whole darn team was there. Very cool.

So, I got a bunch of autographs this year - even more than last. Here's the list:

Current Reds:
Bill Bray
Matt Belisle
Todd Coffey x2
Chris Dickerson
Bobby Livingston
David Ross
Brad Salmon x2
Javier Valentin

Minor Leaguers:
Jay Bruce (Louisville) - Minor League Player of the Year
Richie Gardner (Louisville)
Todd Frazier (Dayton)
Drew Stubbs (Dayton) x2
Justin Turner (Dayton)
Chris Valaika (Dayton)

Former Reds:
Lee May
Ron Oester
Ted Power x2

I'm excited to get anyone's autograph really, but highlights include:

Jay Bruce - should be a STUD for the Reds very soon
Todd Coffey - real chatty, seemed pretty nice
David Ross - also very chatty, seemed genuinely nice
Ron Oester - the guy is a badass, but super nice

Guys I wish I could have gotten: Dusty Baker, Junior (of course), Eric Davis, Ceasar Geronimo, Ryan Freel and Joey Votto. Of course, Dunn, Arroyo and Harang would have been cool too. Maybe next year.

Sometime in January I'll have my Reds bobblehead predictions for the year. Stay tuned, yo.

There's been talk of Hamilton getting traded for starting pitching a lot lately. Maybe they didn't feel comfortable having him there as the "face" of the org knowing there's a good chance he won't be around for opening day.

True, there has been a lot of talk about him in trade rumors. The official reason from the Reds for Hamilton not being in attendance was a "family commitment". No one around here really batted an eye at it... so who knows. The Reds are still on the hunt for a good starting pitcher... just like everyone else.

The best part is none of your sigs were from guys on the 'roids list. :P

Um... I have a feeling that the "roids list" is far from complete (no Albert Belle, KEvin Mitchell, Cecil Fielder? Come on!!!). Anywho, looks like Cinci is in the hunt for Prior. So Hamilton may stay put if they take a chance on him. But there's a lot of talk about Bedard coming to Cicni. I bet they'd have to give up Hamilton (and prolly a prospect) for Bedard. If it were me, I'd stay away from anyone from Baltimore. They seem to have been the hotbed for most of the Roids activity.

Yeah, I hear all of that too about Bedard. Lots of names being thrown around... Hamilton, Homer Bailey, Jay Bruce, Johnny Cueto. The rumor mill is a buzzin'. The Reds have a ton of talent that is coming up real soon. We'll see how it all pans out.
